Cherry Bourbon Cranberry Sauce

If there’s one cranberry sauce that you make this holiday season, make this one! I get RAVE, RAVE reviews from literally everyone who tries this sauce. Its deep, balanced flavor, achieved by the addition of high quality bourbon and cherries, is what keeps people coming back. Don’t worry, the alcohol gets cooked off but the stunning flavor remains. Your taste buds and your guests will thank you!

Ingredients

  • 1 - 12 oz. package cranberries

  • 1 cup sugar (I don’t often eat sugar but I use unbleached organic cane sugar for this one—you could sub with maple syrup if you prefer)

  • 1 cup water

  • 6 oz. black cherry preserves (I really like St. Dalfour brand, which most supermarkets carry)

  • 1.5 tsp cherry extract

  • 1/4 cup high quality bourbon

Method

  1. Combine the cranberries, sugar, cherry preserves and water and simmer on the stovetop until most of the berries have popped, about 15 minutes. Stir frequently.

  2. Add the cherry extract and the bourbon and cook another 5-10 minutes. The sauce should be pretty thick.

  3. Add love. 💗

  4. That’s it! Easy peasy and oh, so good.
